Soft-links or maillons ?

For us, the answer is clearly “MAILLONS”!

Soft-links or textile connectors (Connects) are of course strong enough, there is no doubt about it.

They just complicate the handling for maintenance (line replacement and trimming interventions) to a very large extent!

The cost of replacing the soft-links with maillons is reimbursed after the first maintenance work.

EXAMPLE

The weight gain of the Soft-links on a NIVIUK HOOK 5 P is 70g.
This is the difference in weight between
– 8 Soft-links with elastic tape to hold the lines
and
– 8 stainless steel maillons with plastic line blockers (the same as on the standard HOOK 5).

Many manufacturers do not use Soft-links on Ultralight models with Dyneema mini risers!

Other manufacturers do use soft-links, even on webbing risers. This shows that we don’t all have the same opinion on the matter.
