Spiral stability

The paraglider is in a spiral (descent rate greater than 6 m/s), the pilot has no action at the controls (hands at the level of the rollers), the wing can have 3 different behaviors:

  • neutral spiral
if it continues her spiral at the same speed (it requires an action of the pilot to get out)
  • stable spiral
if it comes out of the spiral by itself (the approval test requires 2 turns so that it comes out alone). The pilot action is not mandatory, but allows an earlier exit.
  • unstable spiral
If it remains in the spiral with increasing speed (a pilot action is required to get out).
