If you look at your lines, you may notice a few bits of thread sticking out of the seams. It is tempting to want to “give a lighter stroke” to burn them. This is what we do in production for Kevlar lines, but not for Dyneema lines !
Dyneema exposed to the heat of the flame sees its resistance drop by more than 80% (a 100 kg line can have its resistance drop to 20 kg !).
Perfectionist pilots couldn’t bear to see slightly long threads on the lines of their new canopy.
The lighter strokes reduced the resistance to the point of causing the lines to break completely!
Dyneema Lines
Never expose them to heat.
Never burn the stitching threads!
